Make Saturn game saves last 20 years instead of 3 months!

Sega fucked up. Saturn game saves are done to internal volatile SRAM that depends on a CR2032 battery. HOWEVER, this battery also powers a real-time clock. The clock uses a lot of current so the batteries die after a few months. This results in game saves disappearing.

I don't do the FRAM mod, because it's pointless. That mod replaces SRAM with non-volative memory. Instead, I simply cut the power from CR2032 to the RTC but leave the connection to SRAM intact. This means that the Saturn will ask for date/time every time booting up, but the game saves will last many years. With a good quality brand new battery, your game saves will last about 20 years.

For shits and/or giggles I decided to do a video about it
