The MM3 modchip allows to boot games off of burned CD-R or original copies imported from regions other than the one your PS1 was sold in.

Scroll down the page for actual diagram. My diagram differs greatly from the traditional ones that have you pulling signals all over the board. Instead, my diagram has you pulling signals from on or near the drive controller IC which controls the CD drive.

This covers most SCPH-9000, SCPH-9001, SCPH-9002, and SCPH-9003’s

I am selling these pre-modded on https://minifree.org/

If you’re using the larger PIC chip, bend the legs up perpendicular to the board, cut off the pig tails.

If you’re using the modern, smaller PIC chip, install it onto a SOP to DIP adapter.

You can buy modchips pre-flashed from https://retrogamerstuff.com/ or buy a PIC chip from china (e.g. aliexpress) and flash one yourself.

NOTE: The chip has to be flashed for your region. There is PAL, NTSC-USA or NTSC-Japan versions of the firmware. Make sure to get the right chip for your region!

Here’s how to do it!
